High voltage interlock loop or HVIL circuits are an engineered safety feature found in all production hybrid and battery electric vehicles.
The interlock loop is monitored to establish the integrity of the high-voltage system. If any part of the “High Voltage” circuit is compromised, the traction battery is electrically isolated from the power inverter/traction motor.
